Nicole {Maternity}

As I am starting to get a feel for all types of sessions that can be offered and want to personally offer once I get back stateside to officially start my business I had yet tapped into maternity. Last year in September I met Nicole. She was at my husband's homecoming taking photographs for my friend and since his arrival came pretty late it gave us plenty of time to chat it up. After the homecoming we became friends on Facebook and it was then a few months later she messaged me asking if I would do the honors of taking her maternity pictures. I didn't even know she was pregnant! LOL But of course I accepted and told her right away that she will be my first maternity session so to bare with me. Her husband was too deployed so the session would include both Nicole and her daughter, Peyton. Peyton was a total ham and really easy to work with which made my job a whole lot easier! I had some ideas for Nicole and she was so willing to do what I wanted when it came to experimenting. She was a little worried about some of the poses but once she saw the final product and my vision come to life she was at ease a totally loved her session. Nicole made me fall in love with maternity and I can't wait to shoot more glowing women and their beautiful baby bumps!

Seven Year Itch?? {Anniversary}

Who says cake smash sessions are just for the one year olds?? I have been building up this couples shoot for a while now in my head and really wanted to test it out on a couple that I knew would have fun with it. Ashley and Koichi fit the profile for this concept perfectly however, I didn't know when their anniversary was. But after asking I was so happy that it was approaching quickly! Ashley didn't even give it a second thought when I asked...which I figured she wouldn't :)
Ashley and Koichi were celebrating their 7 year anniversary this year and are proof that even after 7 years you can still be playful, loving, and full of new experiences. I am beyond blessed to have met them here in Okinawa and I know that even when we leave this beautiful island our friendship will continue. And who knows....maybe for their 14 year anniversary we will relive this cake smash session ;)
I was adjusting my settings and got this shot. Love it!

Derby Chicks {Stylized}

I love meeting new people especially those have their own style and have an amazing personality to back that up. Cris and Becca defiantly had both of those! I was beyond happy when Pamela from Pamela Oliveras Photography extended the invite for me to join her in on this shoot. I absolutely love her and her style so being able to work side by side Pamela was more than an honor. Tamara from Lighted Path Photography also joined in on the fun since it was her friends that were modeling. I have said it before and I will say it again and again....I LOVE working with other photographers. When you are working with someone you end up feeding off each other's vibes and creative juices truly start to flow. It also helps when you have two amazing chicks as your models like we had. Cris and Becca were like yin and yang. Sure they both were completely tatted and were derby wives but their style was what set them apart. Cris was the girly girl with endless tights, heels, and dresses. Becca was more of my kind of chick owning the combat boots, cut up shirts, and Dickies shorts. Tom boy to the max but I loved it!!!
We met up with Pam in her neck of the woods and she took us to the different locations that matched her vision of this shoot. I am very happy with the different look of these photos and since we were pressed for time we plan continuing for a part 2 of this shoot that will involve the ocean :) I can't wait! But til then enjoy the unique style of Cris and Becca.

Alex W. {Stylized}

As I am testing the waters with all the different ways to photograph people (families, couples, kids, glamour, concept) I am finding that I am in LOVE with any shoot when it's one on one. Doesn't matter the age or gender, I love when it's just me giving direction to one person. They listen, don't get distracted and tend to take direction a lot easier when it's just them.  I truly get excited when I have a one on one session.  This was particularly true when I found out I was going to be shooting a pale skin, blue eyed, red headed beauty.  Alex went thru 3 complete looks (first one I wasn't present for) but I had enough gorgeous photos to make up for missing the first look.  Not only was Alex an awesome model and embraced her looks she is also a fellow photographer (here) here on island.
And here is the amazing Alex White!
